The cat is out of the bag!

It's been an eventful week both in terms of things that got done and new shared experiences which are intertwined.
First of all as I mentioned at the two sites most of us share, I was having my internet connection changed over to a much faster fibre as far as the neighbourhood box one, as the leading telecoms company here had fibred the area and it was  a really good all in package if you're a light phone user such as me. As my email is all web based I'd have no problems with losing mail and resetting all my contacts.
Anyway,as we all know I'm a little who dresses more like that in my spare time so the obvious question was what do I do about the engineer calling. Well, actually I stood in front of the mirror and stamped my feet saying "I'm me. I can adapt how I present a bit but I'm still me, a little, and no one's changing who I am".
So with that I decide the uniform could freak him out so we'll opt for the HK tee, cute shorts and socks followed with HK slippers! And you know what? It didn't phaze him nor did testing the connection on the GT home page!
Someone, might of been Alain, commented to the effect it was brave. Brave? Me the original scaredicat? No, it was the confidence that comes with the conviction of being true to yourself while showing some mature consideration of consequences.
We now have really fast even through wireless connection to the laptop making downloading Mako and Spacy's podcast happen in seconds!!!
Over at IK, we've had a few new really lovely people with a fur side and sadly a troll that had to be vacuumed so I've been chatting a bit with them and a couple of things came up that I'm gonna talk about.
First off, InnerKid ettiquette. It seems to me to be a little problematic (no pun intended) as the nature of some peoples little headspace is at the "I wants", "yous play with me" stage which kind of fits if you're at the under 6's stage but is lacking a bit of "can yous play" with me" or even "can yous play?". It may help if people can use a little age appropriate politeness especially if you're playing with an older playmate.
Fursonas:

We were discussing fursonas and I had a revelation, no not the last book of the New Testament, and it was this, I am given to wanting to express myself  as catgirl although I don't own a custom because I have a lot the cat type spirit in the form of a catgirl in me who is playful. Although I can't draw for toffee with my paws and amazingly bad co-ordination and spacial awareness, I've joined FA. Will Zee and Toddlergirl recover from the shock? Lol!
I wrote an introduction that that's not a blow by blow account about me but one that doesn't avoid my little side as the more open in  a less is more way you are, the less likely anyone will misread who and what you're about (and for me it's not sexual).

Online colouring

Just while checking this photo program out, I went over to a colouring book site site that links to online colouring books where you can can  click onto virtual paint and colour in.

 It's listed on the favourite sites page on this blog.

As you can see the tools are well laid out so you just click to load your brush (cursor arrow), move to where you want and click to paint that part.

It's also the first post entirely made from the laptop as I've had to learn where everything is stored!

Transitional arrangements

Great isn't? The last full week of my current internet service provider and we start the day with an outage that's run to a day and a half to which no amount of router resetting can cure. And they wonder why I'm so keen to lose them??? Frankly Talk Talks service here is the worst you could get with numerous outages in over 6 years so it's really no wonder so many folk are deserting them for the likes of Sky, Plusnet and BT.
I most probably won't be around GT and chat from Monday thru Tuesday evening as that's when the hunky monkey's meant to installed the new kit.
Still the good news is the great swelling of June has gone thanks to Penicillin as well as good medical attention so I'm starting the week feeling better as believe you me I felt awful last week requiring to be sent home early from work as it was affecting my ability to concentrate which given the stuff we do is pretty important, this  is not a good thing really.
You can't escape the past though, and I've been through some rough patches like while I was in my teens I went rolling down a hill backwards in a motorized scooter scaring the heck out of everyone (and probably myself too) when I made a big mistake involving gradients that could of been fatal.
Talking of the past, I was reminded of things from the past while rebuilding the music library on this laptop, re-ripping cds complete with cover art to put on music players as well as playing out while searching the internet and copying over some Mp3's I'd bought a while back from online stores that had been living on memory sticks as that computer had insufficient space for things like music and photo's.
I've reestablished the Beatles, David Bowie and Japan libraries from scratch! You wouldn't believe the number of these sticks I have floating around from when I had to plug them into play or copy music to my portable music player although it's no bad thing to back up important files.
I always kept photos on a dedicate stick that lived plugged permanently into the other computer and I may possibly stay with that way as it keeps everything synchronized and am loading in the Serif photo program PhotoplusX5 I spent real money for that came with a digital scrapbook package and some British clipart for all manner of uses.

Of bites and bytes!

What a week eh?
As some of you will be aware I was badly bitten by gnats  and suffered a shock type reaction with deep red irritation, swelling and a temperature.
Transpired I had an infection so I've been put on a course of antibiotics which seem to be working although to date I still have a low level irritation that I hope will go by the end of the week.

On the other hand, I got the laptop that I'd been saving up a few months for as again most of you know my desktop computer is really quiet old and was struggling not so much with self contained programs but with running media rich websites through browsers, lacking short term RAM memory and a hard drive smaller than many peoples USB flashdrives! It also  - hurrah! - has built in Wireless so I can use it anywhere.
My first move was to remove Compaq's boring groan up background with Hello Kitty because this machine belongs to a little girl closely followed by setting up a few nicely set out Favourites with my sites minus some of the rubbish the old computer had acquired over the years.
I so hate having to sit in one tiny room to post away especially on warm days.
For the more computer minded it has 4GBs of RAM meaning when the antivirus is running, it doesn't stumble on the programs running and a big 500GB hard drive for music and photos.
Because it uses Windows 7 Home Edition for Europe it has a browser ballot so I elected to return to my old favourite Firefox as I find it easier to customize plus has some very good extensions and so for the curse of Adobe's lousy buggy Flash plugin hasn't stricken it which I'd rather do without ideally but a number of gaming and video streaming sites  do require it.
I bought a new multi machine license for my cd to digital music ripping program because it was nearly 4 years old (you can convert to practically any know file type by adding the relevant plug in) and the new program gets cover art which is ideal for players that have colour screens. Actually the multi upgrade license was cheaper than buying the program outright for one!
 The only thing I need to install is my all new image editing program from Serif Photoplus X5.
While I'm at it, I just changed my google account email for this site as I realized - my brain could be better - it was linked to an ISP that I'll soon be free from and in the new blogger interface this is much easier than it used to be.

Introducing Lauren

Last weeks cryptic clue escaped a few of you including Zee but yes it's finally here.
Although I don't endorse living your life as a stereotype - I sure haven't lived mine like one! - I have a classic girl fixation with dolls something that's been with me since childhood actually that in that typically confused way was 'permitted' by Mommy when many other things weren't.
I've written about a few of my dolls before but this one is special cos I found it in a store that was scheduled to close down within a few days.
She's a Vanity Fair doll coming with a certificate of authenticity that the designers called Laura but I beg to differ about that name so I went ahead and Christened her Lauren instead as I just love that name after removing all the packaging  with bubble wrap over the joints.
I like her face and hat.

Pushing the boat out

One of the memorable events of the Diamond Jubilee was the Thames pageant on Sunday last which, notwithstanding the god awful weather, continues pretty much to plan bar the air flypast and here's one image I like from it for anyone that missed the tv and newspaper coverage.
I quite like boats having sailed in my youth and this was a great colourful spectacular two years in the planning showing the man powered boats making their way down the Thames.

Today I've been sorting some stuff out for Goodwill as one side effect of running around and playing  is some of my BG clothes no longer fit as I've lost some weight which may mean more space for my LG stuff as most of that is either stretchy or has elasticated waists so fits even better (yay!)and making space for a new item that Taffy would wholeheartedly approve of (shh).

Diamond Jubilee edition

As I usually say there's a purpose however  hard to spot at the start behind my use of images as strangly enough I do think carefully about which to select.
As I'd hope all of us in the Commonwealth would know, we're marking the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty's reign, an uninterupted 60 years of public service to us, her subjects these last four days.
These things to me are a link not just the chronological past of my life but also to my sense of being a little as I was brought up with in this system, following all the tours of the Queen, making scrapbooks up, watching the various Royal weddings, waving our nations flag and even being introduced to various royals myself from an early age. It's something I'm very comfortable with and as you can see in this picture, these children in the UK are too having waited literally hours to see the Queen. If you've ever had the pleasure to talk with her one thing you'll know is she takes great interest in where she goes as for that matter do other members of the royal family. I spent must of been ten minutes talking to one Princess about the life cycle of snails in my early teens! As Paul McCartney remarked yesterday, they're good people at heart AND do have a sense of humour.
So it's no surprise I've been glued to the tv, making a small digital scrape album of anniversary images I like and enjoying some colouring.
