Getting back out of Big Headspace

Trying to find your way back to your little self after both the pause shortly after the start of the year and being surrounded by the cards plus phone calls regarding arrangements is hard going as much as I feel like just curling up half moon shape on the floor for some more tactile play or other suitable little interaction.

Paper dolls was one things I did like at the time, creating new looks and adventures armed with scissors.

Switch off, work with your imagination and just make something that may feature in play - that's always better with at least another person - in a different world.

Literally go back in time and dress more younger, perhaps in ways you have not in ages and let that side right out while colouring in princesses or perhaps watching something aimed at younger children, losing yourself in it.

To me that makes more sense apart from making the most of this years reduced opportunities to "play" with others.

Paws crossed for a few months time.

Working through things

It's been an eventful few weeks here, run ragged at times and this crossover period isn't being helped with the onset of some flu like virus condition here necessitating lots of hot drinks and bed rest when I'd much sooner be outside.

I've been opening some cds and the odd record up that I had last month which with everything going on just never got played, not having many spare moments and presently attending to the many many cards being left.

Normality, whatever passes for that, will in time no doubt return, never the same but with all major things in ones life returning.

I saw five squirrels playing earlier on in the week up in the trees.

Such a pose as in this picture reminds me of the days I'd eye up the desk with half a mind to "borrow" the stapler and photocopier for some project or other I was doing hoping not to be caught out.

Thems the days I much prefer.

Now yearbook 80-84 EXTRA!

We mentioned the Now Yearbook series here in past entries in connection with the limited edition three lp selections that had been issued for the years 1979 through 1982 as my priority was adding selections I didn't have on older compilations such as the NOW and HITS albums of the 1980's bought at the time.

As we discovered when the Vinyl Now Extra Yearbooks 80-84 were issued last year they were not a straight selection from the cd versions but more of a bonus for vinyl fans who'd bought the main volumes in that form.

The answer to the question of what was going to be the follow up to the main Now Yearbook 80-84 which was issued as a four cd set apart from the vinyl edition we posted about was... another extra set exclusive to compact disc!

I decided to get this one as it covered a chunk of hits issued before the NOW and HITS series started  in 1983 and 4 respectively and while the Now series has been re-issued on cd although with a few issues, the HITS series only came out on cd from Hits 5 in late 1986 (and then initially as a single cd).

This set is one a handful of places that does have the actual singles mix of Sister Of Mercy by the Thompson Twins and Nik Kershaw's Dancing Girls rather than the more common lp versions.

As a Japan and David Sylvian fan this also has the 1982 Steve Nye remix of European Son issued around the time the excellent compilation Assemblage was issued, David's Pulling Punches from 1984 and that collaboration between Japan's Mick Khan and Ultravox's frontman Midge Ure After A Fashion from 1983.

It's also the home of the different singles version of Penny Lover from the Can't Slow Down album by Lionel Richie that near enough everyone owned in 1984 - a fine soul album and Kim Wilde's haunting Cambodia that came out on her Select album of 1982.

For the modest price of this three cd set it's worth picking up at your local HMV,supermarkets or on Amazon.

Tidying up ends and resets

This week as we enter another month, the period that normally I'd of been away but between the outcome of last years events and the changed circumstances from the start of last month just isn't going to happen I did think about what I tend to wear.

Given how I am with different presentations things have to key into each as part of that wider whole than it is for many and one think I was looking for was a quality red sweatshirt that could function as an extra layer like a jumper over a pinafore dress or be worn with skirts or short trousers.

It just does the job.

This was one, basic but decently made I spotted and decided to buy being quite stretchy unlike some I have had in the past.
