The modern world and the little

There are lots of different ways in which the way we express our little selves of which one of the more obvious is how outside of our adult lives we elect to present ourselves through what we wear.

Whatever it may be, it is always to drawn a line under what may be classed as being seen as an adult (although of course that doesn't alter The Law) and to resemble outwardly our little selves.

To varying degrees what it is inwardly our sense of littleness which for a few such myself is always there and so is involuntary and permanent would show just on its own whatever we we be wearing but we feel more at one with it more when we resemble our little selves physically.

For some this may include things like wearing say onesies that are themed more around younger children's likes, it may include "little girl dresses" or varying forms of play or leisure wear and for a few it may go into more school or what within my family we'd call our "Best outfits" that you might wear to the theatre or at church.

The World of the Child has changed from perhaps when a good number of us were born and so assumptions you may of had just are not matched in that of actual children today.

The range of clothing is a lot wider than it used to be, many of us played in too worn for use regular school clothing that had been replaced and many conventions around what can be worn by boys or girls have changed.

It is common place for girls to wear various forms of trousers today as do women often and in various parts of the world some boys are wearing skirts.

Attire does NOT make your sex: it only aligns with gender based assumptions.

As adults we have seen more recognition that a person deemed upon physical inspection at birth to be male or female can and do feel very much that they are of the opposite of frequently from an early age.

It is more recognized beyond even that some people do not feel entirely male or female or fluctuate between them and that a boy may present more feminine and a girl may be more masculine ways by local cultural standards.

Even in my relatively small suburb, we have children in school who are not in the traditional pigeon holes by way of gender and girls who don't wear skirts and boys who do wear dresses.

Yet it seems to me this World of the Little is stuck very much in a time warp even though if you were to think about it, it is quite possible in the modern world, any of those children could of been you.

Skirts for girls; trousers for boys has moved on in the real world and for some of us it has and I might add WILL remain a mix and match world reflecting how we are, how we see us and rather less defined by gender.

No one should feel uncomfortable or have to apologize for being themselves and that applies as much in the littles world as that of your adult big one.

We all can be inclusive.

Moving on

Another week where I managed to get out a  bit between the extreme weather to take in some fresh air, talk with some pet owners and get to the hair dressers without needing an umbrella with me, not that that would of made any sense on Friday with the storm.

Obviously there was massive groan up stuff in the news online, radio and tv and the popular press but that's being put aside in the much the same way similar things in the past were being the unalterable and the age inappropriate in so far as this life goes.

You focus on the present and its needs such as play, fun, conversation and relaxing so the lego, plushies, comics come out, the shoes and coats go on and the knees hit the floor or grass.

The online stuff is cut down to the odd youtube channel, things on children's streaming services like iPlayer and just cute stuff on tumblr.

Futureland seems like the past returning with stuff just being jettisoned but nevertheless some things just can never be the same again. The boat has sailed on.

Rainy thoughts miles away

It's a pretty wet day here having been out during one of the all too brief dryish spells for some fresh air and some space to think away from screens, sites and other stuff.

Sometimes I think we get this thing the wrong way around like we spend more time following the online life than having the real life we can then share when we're not following notifications on facebook, tumblr and that and the various groups that have spaces on those platforms.

I can't remember what it was some people I know were going to be doing today, one friend had produced this most amazingly colourful schedule illustration for where they were going but I'm pretty sure it was for things that could be done indoors which if their weather is like mine would really help and mean they can have fun as planned.

Obviously as I wrote before it's unfortunate that my being able to be there just is not possible even if plans including surprise activities had been put together but that's how this goes.

I don't get to choose this part of me. One moment you're feeling fine, the next minute you get that Aura and you know days will be lost to it if not over a week per month having lost jobs to it before now.

Still I've probably made the right call, the right way so it shouldn't be an issue going forward with everybody.

I'll see how things went later on in the week.

Now Yearbook 1982

After Monday's post comes another this week for a change.

Last year NOW started a new series of compilations called Now Yearbook kicking off with '84 which as suggested was set of hits from 1984 and these came on cd in a four cd set with an actual book option with disc with various facts included.

Unusually there was a LP version which I declined as I did with the 1983 version simply because I had the original Now That's What I Call Music and HITS series of compilations from that era plus a few original Ronco sets that covered much of the that era.

Yesterday they issued the 1982 edition and again it did come out on vinyl in a reduced three lp package that I did decide to purchase.

1982 was a significant year for me and, more over, some of the compilations I had back then didn't sound so great as they tried to cram ten tracks to a side and were edited so this would potentially be an upgrade.

It comes on coloured vinyl.

As well, it would replace the Overload compilation which did suffer from thin sound which had on it songs like Islands of Lost Souls by Blondie their last hit for a long time and had a good number of songs from earlier that year originally on the Action Trax 1+2 compilation several friends of mine had and played from tape at the time such as Waiting For A Girl Like You by Foreigner.

That was also on their 4 album of 1981 which I bought for my birthday in 1982 so, yeah, this is very much childhood nostalgia connected.

Because I know the text on rear cover is hard to read here's the full track listing:

Why I'm staying home

Things were not great over the last I don't know ten or so days from when I actually wrote this which was why I was pretty quiet in most of the usual spaces which sometimes invites speculation, sometimes consternation and sadly reverse planned things.

Given I've lived with this for an exceedingly long time being like this is not something I feel I really need apologize for although I would for missing an event that involved others and life is not just a matter of take your tablets and it'll be fine.

Even afterwards it can take days to recover not least dealing with chunks of memory being missing.

To function well you need to know what you know AND know what you don't know and for a good few days I don't so all you get me staring out to space.

It's bad enough normally being unaware people have moved on with no idea where leaving you on your own.

That's why I have needed to rest through this exceptionally bad instance of severe migraines, turn off the screens and work more on recuperation rather than hoping against hope for just clearing in a day and grabbing stuff to go take a break as much as one might of liked to.

It also isn't fair to expect people to be looking all the time around you if go to meet with people when you know you are very unwell rather than just becoming so with people.

It wasn't part of their time away from whatever they normally do.

We'll see how things pan out for later in the year.
