An Easter Post

Easter Monday? It is today but wasn't when I got around to typing this post out between things like listening to boom radio who mark Easter with a vote in Chart of listeners all time favourites so the Roberts Rambler radio is on and loaded with batteries in case we lose power with this storm they're all talking about.

That's another reason to get this this done as while the Chromebook has batteries, the router doesn't!

We've had a few Easter cards this year and the plushies have been up to their usual tricks hiding stuff but I spotted this!!!!

Ooo Err, a duo of likes - chocolate and unicorns all wrapped in one tasty package while I watch a view a few youtube videos from the likes of TechMoan and Stu's nostalgic tv centric channel before playing the odd record as we've like several hundred lps here.

You just grab a few and play!!!!

Anyway Happy Easter folks!

Easter Party 2025

No, he wasn't caught on the hop this year just that Easter was a week later when we all got together after arriving on Friday having gotten a taxi and caught the train down so I would be less rushed which also had the benefit of enjoying a fish and part battered chip meal was people talked.

Saturday was the start of events proper and I was up just after six, possibly the earliest cos I go by British Cat Time - when you can see things you get moving - so after the last person arrived we started with an Easter Egg Hunt which the first step was to assemble your basket and having done that I found seven of them hidden all over the place.

We then retired for home made burgers with onion that we ate outside that were most scrumptious .

We then had to throw a bean bag at the rabbit to score points which wasn't my strong point  before the egg and spoon race which you could I was more slow and steady before the outdoor darts which I wasn't too bad at

Then each time had to retrieve a deck using a pole with chain but it soon transpired the chain was too long and heavy although one person did seem to develop a knack for it.

Then we had Tin Can Alley where one team member managed get a ball through the centre of the tins leaving those around the edges in a perfect inverted V shape and I knocked most of them off which was something!

We were treated to small creme eggs and a gingerbread bunny.

We then enjoyed an enjoyable bring a long a few things buffet  which I had B-B que chicken, pork pie salad and sausage roll before playing Easter bingo  and Family Favourites.

After much talk we got to sleep - for me opposite the fire - just before midnight and I was up for oatcakes and bacon before we went to the local pub for a meal which for me was a turkey roast and sticky toffee treacle pudding.

After that we made our ways home with Debbie kindly providing three of us a lift to the station.

Thanks to Jennifer for organizing the party and everyone contributing to a highly enjoyable event.

Easter week

It's Easter which beyond my staples of reading the Easter Story (you can't have Christmas without Easter theologically) and observance does involve Easter fun and games which you may of done either in your family or with other groups.

In Girlguiding you can do a lot from egg hunts, making cards and making toys and maybe attending an Easter service.

These days you can get colourful bags to take to your egg hunts!

There was two eggs here one from Dad and the other from one of adoptive Aunts which as I type this will be hatched and broken into.

White chocolate while a bit sickly doesn't bother me so much with the dreaded headaches and that so I tend to go with that having "lost" many a easter or christmas to that in the past.

Happy Easter

Easter Party 2024

This is coming a bit later than scheduled because it is written immediately after the event and anyway I'm actually a bit tired and sneezing probably due to pollen but anyway I did after an awful lot of mither and faff get to the LG Easter Event.

Trains were removed and this year I had to travel a day late and get a cab of the taxi rank to the venue with sets my anxieties off around being understood and being bad at remembering routes in areas I don't spend most of my time in (and then I can get lost).

Thankfully it did work out all right so changing from train to cab was seamless and even going in a less usually way but more direct in some respects didn't fox me so I got dropped at point I was very familiar with to walk with case to the venue.

It wasn't long before ringing the doorbell before half nine and moewing I was greeted by this welcoming sign, changing into something more comfortable before catching up with people while our host was setting things up.

The cans were set up to see armed with bean bags who could knock the most over and surprisingly I didn't do too badly at that but was it the strong wind which was preferable to anticipated rain?

The Egg Hunt was underway, hidden in all manner of weird and wonderful places and everybody found at least a few which as you went around you put into your colourful box.

We had a buffet evening meal with thing provided by our host and things we bought of which one had to be cooked - Faggots from the delightful town of Penkridge which I did have and enjoy on top of salad, various pies and Andi's excellent trifle with cream.

We had an Easter themed bingo which was different having surprisingly enough never played it and by the time I got four lines we were on full cards!

Much talking and yarn sharing followed until one by one people either left or for those staying overnight, went to bed so I fell asleep to the glow of the coal fire before waking up around 8 o clock getting wash and changed for the next morning where we talked over a Bacon sandwich before heading to lunch.

It was around this point I was getting a bit concerned cos while the rails strikes had stopped it's not unknown for drivers on Sundays just not to turn in for work and there seemed to be a dirth of services showing on one site.

I consumed a turkey roast, sticky toffee pudding with cream and a half pint of orange which was very tasty and would keep me going until I got home.

People said their goodbyes and I left aided by a lift from Andi on something of a high from the events to catch the 16:32 Preston service that  stopped at one of the two stations nearby before catching can home.

Thanks to Jennifer for hosting, the event, Andi for the lift to the station and everyone for what they brought to the event both by way of physical and personal contributions.

Easter 2024

This is being typed on Sunday as we had a number of issues with the bigger Windows machine and a browser getting corrupted as an update became a no-date so the carefully laid plans fell rather like a certain planned trip out.

Being Sunday of course we're in the middle of that period so after meeting various Aunts there is a number of Easter Cards and Chocolate of various kinds here which I'll try to keep off of pink gingham dress which I'm wearing typing this out with some matching cute girlish socks.

That's very bunny although the lesser spotted Grump did bring me an egg too shockingly which was something Mom always did when she was around being more clued in to this more littles side of me and with various things altering things like shopping needed to be reworked.

Anyway I'll have some more egg and get on with more comic reading.

HAPPY EASTER!

An easter with a difference

It is Easter but once a year although with two calendar systems in place it can get just a little complicated I guess but having come down by taxi and then train which with all the crazy groan up stuff going on I thought might of been cancelled, I got there thanks to Andi and Miss Green with everything lining up just fine.

Yes it's spring, officially from mid March but with the way Easter works it can be between March and April and there was a high incidence of Bunnies around the house and even outside.

I wasn't the earliest there but one of the earliest so we chatted after getting changed into something that wasn't excessively girlie - I don't do metres of satin and lace personally - and had a drink of tea after depositing my contribution to the buffet and the grumps sweets - yes he contributed something!!!! -  and as time moved on everybody arrived and Burgers were fried complete with onions which having last eaten at half six was very much appreciated.

Things were dotted about if you looked for them such as this pretty display.

The first event of the afternoon after I'd taken slipper socks off for shoes revealing more of the pereline socks was the Egg Hunt where I did find one and things moved toward some games played more for fun in two teams, the Yellows and The Greens.

There was a bunnified form of archery, a down the rabbit hole game rather like croquet, that classic the spoon race and one you had to knock out the cans.

There is apparently a set way to put them all back up ready for the next person but one person got things in an odd combination but eventually got there but then I'm just like that too.

Faces were Bunnified  with whiskers and easter crafts were available for those interested.

The buffet went down well with various pastries featuring pork, chicken and leek, that modern day staple pizza, garlic bread  were on offer joined by home made trifle and raspberry jam sponge cake all of which were most tasty.

We gained a dog this year who delightfully placed himself into activities enjoying cuddles and play apart from adding an extra game to the afternoon.

There was a quiz afterwards which was fun before things moved into conversation around many things like other get togethers for later on in the year, what people had been up to and so on.

That drifted on to two in the morning at which point I put the sheets over the sofa and went sleep waking up later for a bacon sandwich as a few needed to leave early.

The rest of us, as before had decided to visit a local public house for a midday meal together and that included said dog and I opted for a Turkey Roast and Sticky Toffee Pudding with cream, paying my bill using touch card payments on the way out.

Service was exemplary.

After walking back I had a lift to the rail station with another person who had a greater distance to travel catching the direct train to our major station and then getting a Taxi straight off the rank for stimulating conversation to my house.

We'd never done anything like this before, only a halloweenish event but everybody felt it had been a great fun littles event that while people helped out and that you could just enjoy more of child-like easter party that either you had or wished you could of, dressed as you'd of rather of had.

For me, recovering from the loss of a parent and trying to come to terms with changed circumstances, it was a much needed break and first step towards moving on to the more regular things that I feel I do need.

Thanks to our host and the many who helped out in different ways.

Easter edition

It is Easter but a little differently because Mom normally would of been in church for easter services and was more the lynch pin of things being as keen on old rituals as I am going back to childhood but obviously that can't happen.

For as many years as I recall doing this blog there was entry around this ritual sometimes featuring the plushies and hand puppets trying to do a Grinch and steal easter but with bit by bit redecorations this year they've been rumbled!

The Grump tm is taking on some of these little roles and so was responsible for getting this years egg tying that in with the groceries with three mini white chocolate bars

He did also pick up this smaller egg with white buttons inside of it but doesn't sadly make a Tux the Penguin but given he managed that without a prompt last week we can give him pat on the back as I munch my way through them today and across the week.

I also had some white Chunkies - a kind of white chocolate crunch bar from an aunt like figure in my life.

Happy Easter!

A new month

Well the month has ended and we enter a new quarter of the year that I very much hope is better than the last as I sit on the couch in our front room working on this weeks entry on is shaping up to be a bright sunny day.

The daffodils and other assorted spring flowers are out and in good shape unlike one bumble bee that had gone to sleep on the sidewalk, looking rather sad for itself and here as in many parts of of the Midlands it is Easter Hols from school.

A good few were spotted yesterday coming home having made their own Easter Bonnets in much the same way I recall doing at my school from reused materials, with quite a creative streak with not just floral designs but easter bunnies too.

Already the gift we all love is out in the shops so I have to see what the Grump comes up with as he's gone shopping and was understood to be looking for one for a little that nearly always had one from Mom.

Anyway time for my flavoured milk now.

Easter ride

Last week's was very much an Egg driven post but this week we're turning that around a little.

Oh it is a different world all right with no "Clunk click every trip" as rather like I did and perhaps you might of  too you just sat on any suitable spot back then - I travelled on school trips atop of a small dustbin - cos nothing was around then to stop you.

Thank the stars we're a bit more sensible about becoming a projectile hitting doors if not glass when the breaks go on sharp such as some kind of incident these days but really it's that passenger seat that holds my attention.

Anybody going "aww that's a beautiful dress and bonnet" definitely has a point not super fussy (do I do "fussy"-no!) but a lovely print that just looks right but the we have that easter bunny, a duck and a traditional wicker basket with ducklings in of which she has one in her hand.

Don't you wish that could of been you?

Interestingly the picture is from 1953 which is a pretty long time ago I'm reliably informed but it's enough to want to go back to a time when children were just that and rather less mini adults.

Easter 2022

Today's not normal, nor was Friday which is why the bigger blog was a bit different than usual and obviously today's here also is.

You can't keep Fairy Bunnies away, well fairies, sprites and the like generally actually not when they are in today's main event.

You may of done this when you were official younger and probably do now right down to wearing a pretty dress doing it.

A treasure hunt of any sort is just fun! Toss in Eggs as the object and well I'd be delirious!

There are a couple of eggs here and this is the main one, very kawaii as you'd expect of me even if I'm more "no frills, no fuss" made by a well known Midlands chocolate maker which was eggsellent news.

Happy  easter everyone/everyfur!

Easter Monday edition

Well it may be Monday but it's a different morning than most so we're mark it here a bit differently.

It is Easter Monday, part of that whole really important set of days across the Easter weekend that some may send cards each other which may be religious in nature or more secular and this a vintage example that I like.

As this blog's author has age dysphoria, the eternal child of twelve has an easter just like she had back then first time around and that does include things like mini eggs and the Big 'Un.

Most of us love a unicorn and that plus chocolate from one of fine chocolate manufacturers here in the Midlands is just the ticket for me no doubt covered with sticky paws too afterwards.

Nom,nom,nom!

The Easter Edition

Unfortunately there is no Church thanks to the emergency and restrictions we can't have an Easter Service nor an Egg Hunt which is jolly sad really.

However emergency or not it is Easter and regardless of what some people have tried to do I'm jolly well going to mark it the way I always do.
If you were a a Fudge or LilJennie I'd hide if I were you as this bunny is milk chocolate by Britain's best chocolate people given Cadbury's has gone downhill ever since it was taken over by the Americans who've tried making our chocolate more European and I have no need for it!
This is made from decent chocolate of the sort we prefer here in the Midlands by locals and no doubt will be in my tummy by the end of the week!!!!

HAPPY EASTER!

Caught in the act!

What's with Theo, Two-faced and Peaches that they appear to be gathered in some kind of a conspiracy on Easter Monday?
Do they have a plan knowing eggsactly what it involves as they hatch it having figured out how to take their very own picture, as they were about to commit a dastardly act just when I was so looking forward to today?
It appears they had a plot to take my egg away for a midnight feast taking that picture leading to them getting busted so I'm afraid they're doing Corner Time.
Meanwhile I nom my way through the day!

*Happy Easter folks

Easter Monday Edition

 (Pix credit: North Dallas Gazette)
Today's the day all right when a certain bunny -no not Jennie- comes around this time of year bearing gifts for the young and very much young at heart and things like Easter Egg Hunts are run.
But wait what are Theo, Peaches and Two-Faced up to here with that there Egg?
Is it something the Yokel Constabulary ought to concerned as I do believe that egg is in fact mine and how dare they try to claim it as theirs to eat in their very own seat by the window plus anyway as it has their own paw prints all over it, recovery should be easy later on.
They're not getting away having it made by one of England's finest chocolate makers with I believe some separate chocolates included just you wait and see!!!
Nom, nom, nom!

Easter happenings

It's Friday and just what the heck is going on here?

Golly gosh Rory had gotten hold of my Egg  on Monday and wasn't for handing over so I fight him paw by paw to get it back. He can go get his own!

I prefer Thornton's chocolate to Cadbury's and this egg had nine individual chocolates with it too in separate box.
By Thursday this was the last piece remaining to nom having gotten my paws so sticky Mommy had to wipe them with a dishcloth otherwise I'd of  gotten caked in it and so would the door handles.
It's easy enough for me to get in trouble for leaving chocolate stains in the throw over covers on our furniture given everything goes flying when it's in my paws!
On Monday I watched a performance of Goldilocks and the Three Bears on CBeebies (a BBC TV children's channel) that was actually really good for having a fully integrated group of children including disabled children taking part in the story that also had dancing from members of the Northern Ballet.

Easter Monday edition

If you're like me you'll find trying to keep those items secure while looking out  and staying balanced  extremely difficult and need both hands for when walking as I need to hold on to things. That's the trouble when you have a physical disability like I do.
It is always more difficult if you are on uneven surfaces like our pavements here or when you are trying - I usually feel it's more struggling - to make you way around people when they're almost invisible to you and you have no idea where in that space your own body is in relation to anything never mind to try to get any one part of it to move at will purely from my mind. It's like control system for a car that's missing a  few connections.
Talking of connections the other day Marmalade got behind the dining room tv and pulled a few of them out so we were greeted by "No Signal" and the dvd play didn't work which involved a bit of bending to put everything back in again. He sure is curious!
But anyway it's the season of the Easter Bunny and Eggs so shortly I'll be nom'ing my way though them getting covered in chocolate

This is one Mommy presented to me Sunday morning as that's Easter Sunday in the Anglican calendar for being good. I can see the dishcloth coming out if I get too stickified in chocolate!!!

Easter Monday Edition

It's still the Easter vacation as I write this so this edition is going to be about a number of things that kind of connect.
The first thing is I am continuing with my study which isn't by any means easy having just done a English practice exercise based on an extract from "The Sea Raiders" by H G Wells who I suspect writes above my innate comprehension level. The fact this is supposed to be set for 11 to 14 year olds may give you an insight into just how real my problems actually are and why it's progress that I'm sat at  desk in uniform doing this not throwing it back at you!
I've got a whole Math unit revision  to complete too based on all the work I've done so far this year before moving on Shapes which just to ensure I have a hope in heck of having gotten the foundations to get right.

The other thing in part connected to this is after a few delays with the  Chinese New Year Vacation season, a self fastening striped tie is here for junior me.
I did spend a bit of time watching dvds between noming the Eggs with Marmalade including Inside Out and now he wants to go out in the rain!
The other thing is a site I originally found many years ago ago finding about the World of Adult Little Girls making posts on and what made them so different finding a few people I eventually discovered had accounts at GT, sent a message to say it was going put on indefinite pause and inviting people to download their posts but sadly not any comments you made on other peoples posts or messages with no new members being accepted and not be able to log into it after April 21.
Most people I feel rightly are reading that as closure keeping posts up until their server  space is no longer paid for and it all goes.
Although it's owners have said the drift toward mobile working by social media users, often contradictory legal requirements from different jurisdictions to uphold and a lack of much need money brought about this, I feel and a number agree some things such as allowing teens in, discontinuing popular with core users story titles, tags and editing and trying to make it more like Twitter meets Facebook wasn't satisfying older users while also bringing newer ones in.
On the other hand, a delayed acceptance for another more agreeable site was received and more working on full form posts is likely from me which will be the the new life from the old.

Nomtastic Nom's!

Oh yes, it's that time of the year although for some of us it has other religious significance too but for a good many it is a fun time, playing hunt the easter egg, hunting for Fudge, sorry make that the Easter Bunny as she hides them away.
But I've my own BIG one...
That's Marmalade on the far right who cannot have human chocolate ever next to Miss Flutterby a butterfly on an egg from Derbyshire's finest chocolate maker cos the Midland's the bestest part of England!
If I get my paws all sticky Mommy will wipe them with a dish cloth something else that hasn't changed from official childhood.

Easter Monday

On the nom here as you'd kind of expect for an Easter Monday having finished one set of my chores off for today, breaking into an egg with aid of a knife. Before now I've just bashed my way into it with a spoon but I felt like, you know, being a bit neater.
I'm feeling better in myself compared to the last ten days or so where I've struggled to feel like logging into certain sites we know and taking part in much of the activity never mind chat so I'd like to thank everyone not least LKM for trying to support me through this period as events have hit harder and deeper than perhaps might of been expected.
I'm just getting a few things together ready to visit a couple of friends tomorrow between finishing off tasks for a few days having been tearing my hair out yesterday when I mislaid a card only to find it between two Wellington boots!
It's crazy ol' World, eh?

Easter 2015 edition

It's that weekend coming up folks.
The season of the nom'ing of chocolate, that is although there is a very important spiritual side to Easter some of us hold to as well.
So I have an Egg to get through over this period which will be appreciated and a few Easter cards with chicks on them that is taking on more of symbolism with me presently for reasons I've touched on in the last few posts.
Let's enjoy Easter and help each other move on.
P.s Thanks to Inga  for following this blog.
