A kind of reintroduction

Believe it or not we have made just over a thousand and fifty entries, been in existence for well over a decade and still you see fresh people coming to it before you consider it is possible others may of left.

I had been thinking for a bit and actually a kind of reintroduction post is necessary not just because of the length of time we've been around but also for a host of reasons opportunities to formally and informally through say play have been restricted for a good two and half years and some will continue beyond.

This is unapologetically a blog for littles, people who regress either for short period or like some of us involuntary regress to some extent all of the time and those who may be in their lives.

With no implied criticism this blog only looks at and is about more things that would be seen as "child safe" or otherwise safe for work and has been from day one excepting the past is what it is and in talking about that, some things that may be less in favour today may be lightly referenced. The past is the past.

What unites people is what we bond over, a love of childhood, the one you had or for some more the chance for a better one that has us in it and others who are prepared to join in spirit.

Your dollies, teddy bears, toys, comics and yes your imagination are the things we need and the things we share that makes for that reenactment of the past in the present this life at its best has.

Your grown up side may have views on groan up topics but as they never came into play back in the playground then, we certainly don't need them now.

We just played and if someone was being a bit mean, then we said just that, no "isms", "ists" just treat others the way you'd like to be treated.

That's how it works here and anyway did you say you were a child? Leave that to groan ups!

The vantage point here is more from a feminine angle but one that is wider than that of some peoples pasts however personally they may like being that person cos being you is only for you and what anyone else may be is...different. Different is okay.

Today we recognize some people have a stronger sense having a duality of feminine and masculine traits and interests even of others may not, that you may not from a purely gender point of view see yourself as entirely one or the other.

I can and shockingly do switch or move by degrees at times by interests and by dress as do a fair number of people today but you remain one person.

This blog not surprisingly accepts people who are non-binary or see themselves as gender fluid supporting the rights of all of us to be ourselves as we are and feels this shouldn't get in way of playing with others.

It is shocking to consider how people were judged in the past even from their earliest days but are we prepared to accept people for how they are even if that may not be you personally?

This blog doesn't believe in demanding personal endorsement  but believes in the acceptance of difference, seeing the person beyond how they may present or how you may live your life, respecting that. Being inclusive is being accepting of difference.  No one has to "get it".

Life has interests as briefly mentioned and some of those are to be found within this blog, such as nature, music and reading although that is impacted by real life limits is more junior fiction than anything written specifically for an adult audience, comics and plushies.

I don't do regular pieces on fashion although sometime things around more littles wear such as play clothes or uniform do appear as I feel a post coming on.

Welcome to the World of Joanne_chan!

Dear reader

Hi peoples.
I woke up with this idea for a post cos the next scheduled one would be a in a few days time but before I went to bed with Theodore, I noticed something here at The World of Joanne_chan I want to talk about.
The first thing is while I've been doing my Math schoolwork this week, we have had a grand total of 18,814 views since the blog was started and in the last month 2,014 which is a lot of views.
I also noticed we gained two new followers, which is always nice so Croeso to Kitsune and welcome to Clare.
People have many reasons for writing a blog, some being very much with the authors own needs such as making a dairy of their lives, interests and important events getting a great deal of satisfaction in reviewing them as time flies.
Well, that's partially true for me but another reason for writing a blog is to better inform people about some interest or aspect of your life because many do not understand it or worse still think they do on the basis of sensational stories in magazines and the popular press.
For me, it is that I wish people who encounter this blog randomly, to understand what being an adult little girl is about, like it's not  seedy, a dirty little secret, a threat to society or worse still Children's welfare.
It's an very important part of a everyday responsible life that you're engaged with that is stacked with childlike innocence, fun and a refreshing spontaneity. We also have mainstream hobbies and  a sense of humour!
As well,  many of us contribute in different ways to making lives better for others by solving scientific problems, making things people like or helping people navigate complex personal needs.
That's why having people stop over at this blog as well as other peoples too is important because it helps to break down these erroneous preconceptions so having good viewing figures matter to get the word out.
Thank you dear reader for stopping by today and if you haven't already please either spread the word about this blog or consider following it.

Hello and goodnight from me

Hi people.
First things first, we've a number of new visitors to this blog according to the numbers thing Google provide, and if that's you please read the About and if you wish, add a comment to the Hellos sections you click on from the top of the blog as they'll explain what this blog is really about and why I was so pleased Samantha amongst others publicly recognized the value of it.
I also wish to welcome PowderKid ,teenb101,Pickachu, tinkerbell and Noodle to my home of schoolgirlish innocence as well as Mary who returned to GT this week.
People at  Adisc and GT may have noticed something, namely my avatar yes the one form the same series as the delightful image I'm claiming this week, looks well, sharper, because when I edited it last time to fit the square 150x150pxavatar size restrictions at both sites, somehow the online resizer made it very grainy something Noodle rightly brought to my attention so I redid the resizing.
Last week I talked about sleep having lost several spoons to staying awake for longer than is good  for me and sleep is something that has been mentioned before as in Little Modes Sleep both at GT and there's a current thread running on it at Adisc plus there's my "Downsized Sleep" entry on here about talking about how and what I got from throwing the groan up stuff out of it!
Anyway peoples you'll recall I'd converted sleep into a going to sleep and waking up  as a adult little girl experience with age appropriate bedlinen, teddy bears, posters, pretty much the works really and it was wonderful.
Well, how well do you find actually switching off, closing your eyes and going to sleep? If you're like most of us maybe a bit iffy even if we turn off the Tv for a bit before getting into bed. But there's something, you might remember it, that used to work pretty well for you when you were younger and I'm suggesting you try it.
Recently faced with this, I recalled this reassuring routine of either being read a short story or maybe of listening to soothing songs -Lullabies- that from being in bed get you into a relaxed sleepy frame of mind from my own childhood.
It happens that Amazon has a pretty good recording of Lullabies in contemporary arrangements in stock that is available as an inexpensive download as well as a cd and I bought it.
Lullabies-the rainbow collection which I'm sure is available on Amazon in the States and Canada too.
It runs for about 35 minutes which is just long enough for you to start to drift off clutching your teddy and it does really help having adopted this into my sleep routine packed with favourite songs and rhymes from the past.
Until the next time and IK chat.
 Hugs Jo.

Cross Words

Fairly recently a new Christopher Cross compilation entitled Cross words - The Best of was issued by Music Club a label of Demon Music Group Ltd in the UK.
What is interesting about this release is it is a double cd and a very inexpensive one at that which, wait for it, holds 36 of his songs spread across the discs covering his commercially successful period at Warner Bros.
The tracks cover a wider view of his work and whilst being all properly licensed there is no mention of who did the cd mastering amongst the booklet that has a short biography of the man and pictures of the album covers from which the tracks have been taken
I have to say whoever did the job did a very good job as the sound just expands beautifully on the louder passages as if you bought the records back then you'll know just how engineered the originals were and I'd consider it demonstration worthy.
On cd I only had his first album which is responsible for four singles "Say You'll Be There", " Sailing", "Ride Like The Wind" and Never Be The Same" that all always on the radio in late '79 and 1980 and remain popular.
He was responsible for the song "Arthur's Theme" from the 1981 movie which was a massive seller on the singles chart back then and yes another song still popular with many.
The second album "Another Page" was released in January 1983 and featured "All Right" which was if I can recall correctly the 'lead off' single and "Think of Laura which was popularized in some American Soap - might of been General Hospital - and was a top twenty smash in the late fall of '83.
The original cd of this was not good sounding at all so I tossed mine across the sidewalk and stuck with the lp and 8 track tape which added "Arthur" for programming reasons.
The good news with this set is actually it has every single track from "Another Page" and boy does it sound good and indeed you can having copied the disc to your computer/music server create a playlist for it so it all runs in the right order!
No Time To talk - disc 1 tk5
Baby Says no - disc 2 tk9
What am I supposed to do? - disc2 tk10
Deal 'em again disc2 - tk11
Think of Laura - disc1 tk6
All right - disc2 tk2
Talking in my sleep - disc2 tk12
Nature of the game- disc2 tk13
Long world - disc2 tk14
Words of wisdom disc2 tk 15

For an incredible £4.99 shipped from Amazon UK this a bargain as well as a great introduction to this singer songwriter.

The Little Girl within takes control

A couple of years ago, something happened to me in connection with a major public role I was undertaking outside of work which lead me down a route in life that includes this blog and it's mission.
I was responsible for a large organization that was undertaking several important projects to the community that those who made decisions on wanted but had left me to attend the meetings, met the other parties involved attending their workgroup events and so on at the same time as being the head honcho of their own body.
It also was the case I was involved in local political activity for a good two decades with it's own cycles of meetings, events and so on.
It also is true to say I was becoming increasingly frustrated at the sheer amount of time I was spending - often over 20 hours a week over being tied to my computer and mobile phone from the minute I came from work. It even cut into my vacations too being expect to work from hotel rooms!
As much as I complained about this, there was little effective cover meaning the inevitable meeting clashes weren't covered and the one who was meant to got no cover either!
By this point I had become ill, finding the combination of high demands, lack of effective management of commitments to outside bodies and the best word to describe what I went through was 'a nervous breakdown'.
Something came out during my recovery, my inner child rebelled against it's forced to groan up shadow  kicking it's butt, insisting she wanted her time, she wanted to play in her little girl clothes and chill out on the bed in the evenings.
She fought and won those changes because the little girl within had spunk and courage to make the changes that would set me on a path that would make me so much more happier because when it came down to it, I just a child in a grown up body.
