Making things better

This week I'll talk about something a bit different but I feel relevant.

Sometimes it can seem as if everything is "just so" in this world to the point that perhaps it would appear to utopia not because anyone may actually suggest it but more because we don't talk about things that can happen although they may not be any one persons fault.

Communication is the backbone of much such as that sense of belonging to a group or to being a friend or acquaintance of somebody because it is how we transmit our thoughts  so it perhaps isn't so surprising that in corporations where few may know each other well they do research into this.

One thing that is increasingly recognized is the written word as in emails or other text types isn't necessarily the  best way of getting something done because apart from delays compared to face to face much information around how is something is meant goes missing meaning it often has to be chased up.

This can and does happen in our private lives too.

Conversations that one person may of spent time working on drafting and redrafting can seem to have acquired at the other end an interpretation that may seem a good way from what was intended.

That can lead to a response which  is puzzling (Britishers may say "flummoxed") and may even result in the belief that that are not understood that over time may move toward feeling they are never fully accepted.

That leads to unspoken hurt lingering.

The crazy thing is actually if we all admit to this, draw a line underneath of it and try to work things through rather than picking at a scab  we can improve those interactions not least by just being together and learning to accept we may not of understood each others intentions toward each other.

Nobody's perfect so why not try do things differently?

On friendship

Here we go again seeing white rabbits as we enter a new month and so start with our first one of July.
Talking as one does often lead to my mind thinking about things that may not of been at the centre of attention  but around the edges.

This was one thing that was revolving around my mind the other day cos we all seem to have different ideas of what a friend is or isn't wherever we happen to be.
For me one important part of being a friend to someone is the extent to which I feel emotionally connected to them and with them, that's to say we feel for each other  in ways that go beyond general sympathies.
Another is that you share a lot in common with that person seeing at least some parts of you in them although you are your own person, both the good points and the bad.
You do have differences but you learn to accommodate them because what you have in common counts for more.
You can argue with them because you care passionately about them and their well-being but you respect boundaries, always making up afterward. When you do that your friendship hasn't lessened-it's grown deeper.
The amount of true friends can be counted on one finger rather than the number of followers on Facebook and Tumblr because they're just acquaintances.
You sure would share the last thing you had with them.

All change!

If anyone wondered why I seemed to be not around for part of last week that was because I received a unexpected message inviting me out so I spent  a bit of time altering some arrangements and quickly getting my travel organized.
Some people may be more inclined to think "I've my week planned out" and leave such an unexpected invitation  be but to me sometimes you're better just going with it not least because ultimately your life is the more richer for personal encounters and time spent together. They're the things that really matter.
So it was with that that I set off on a glorious sunny Wednesday morning to get the first of two buses to get to the train station getting aboard the Black Country bound train arriving at Wolverhampton to change to the local train network.
Having arrived I was then met by Auntie Andi who walked with me for a short distance to her car before arriving at her house and getting changed into my uniform.
For me, that is a key starting point because when I'm with friends that's very overtly little/middle time when any kind of masking of that innate littleness that's always in me in outside public spaces is completely off from then on.
I give full expression to the whole middle with a little side of me.
That's when I'm letting out and being that 10-12ish girl, engaged in her playing, colouring and other assorted interests pretty much to the exclusion of much else although I never relate to people as an adult anyway (it simply isn't there) so effectively you keep an eye on me more as that child, correcting as necessary and I accept your authority as the adult in charge.
It just works.
I came down the stairs with my  Rag Doll and colouring book making myself comfortable as we talked about various things over a cup of tea which I was able to hold okay as the other week I spilled hot tea on myself which didn't do me much good and meant I had to change my clothes so the others could be washed.
We were joined later on by Matron who'd no doubt of approved of my attire, talking some more and showing her some of my art stuff before it was time to eat with some music from the early 60's and 80's on in the background as Auntie Andi has her music stored digitally and just selects a Playlist to play rather than putting cds in a cd player. I like that idea and usually play digital music stored by hundred on cards, selecting albums on my portable music player.
We had home made beef stew with dumplings and vegetables which was very nice - I like traditional stews and hot pots - and desert which the least said about cream the better cos it's a big like of mine!
After some talking and colouring on my part Matron left ready to get some sleep in the next day and shortly afterward watching some furry convention videos, I went to bed surround by Princess Sophia the First and lots of plushies. I don't think lots of techno stuff is settling when it comes to getting your sleep in.
After a solid sleep which just the thing Middles like me really need and getting dressed, I read a bit of news resisting the urge to kick Mr Osbourne the next time I'm in Knutsford for his awful planned PIP disability allowance cuts and the Tape users Tapehead.net site before Auntie appeared with a drink and I got on with some more colouring while she dealt with important emails.
Andi cooked a full British breakfast  with fried bread and black pudding and egg which was super appreciated as that's something I only normally only have at weekends before she sorted out some work stuff and checked times for my trains back before I gathered my things up to make our way to the rail station.
Strange things can happen like we had a driver go awl at Birmingham New Street and when they found him we then had to wait for the signalman to gave his go ahead before we could move! Luckily it didn't mess up the connections so I had time to change from Platforms at Wolverhampton and a kind Afro-carribean woman helped me off the train before catching the one home which was on time.
The time I spent away did underline really why spending time together is such a important thing bettering time spent online and I'd like to conclude by thanking Andi for her hospitality and Matron for her company.

A short message from me

Hello and welcomes to this weeks edition bought to you  by de power of de Pale Moon (not Sailor Moon!) and a computer that just come out of the toy box.
I'm sorry I haven't been able to talk with a number of you on various sites such as Tumblr or Google Plus  but this computer it slower than running through treacle even loading up those sites never mind handling all those rapid media heavy posts as great as they are. It so bad it not even do the chat room at IK at all so I not sure if I able to even be with you in chat this next week apart from just going from site to site being slow that reduces the amount of time I have available to do all these things.
I hope something can be fixed so I can keep in better touch with you all.
Regards Jo.

You called?

It's shocking isn't it? I've had the same cellphone a Nokia 3410 for over ten years, two employers and a good many vacations after getting tired of relying on callboxes to phone friends from and the lines that would form from each in a Summer's evening when away.
Well, the battery started to lose its ability to store the power that would not of been bad other than Nokia seemingly no longer make the battery having discontinued the phone itself  and the third party makers in China replacement models are of so-so quality at best.
I'm currently with Vodafone whose network has a very good reliable coverage, something in this area can't be relied upon by others such as Orange, and didn't feel like having to change my cellphone number but needed a replacement, not least for when I'm out on daytrips and the like quickly.
Because of my paws I do need something fairly robust and with my co-ordination I'm prone to falling over so models with thin glass screens aren't so good.
As I don't need the Internet, I bought this, the Samsung E1200 which could be had for little more than the cost of a replacement battery which is simple to use with a very tactile keypad and very long battery life not just when making calls but also when in standby.
It was sold as unlocked to any one network and comes without your providers SIM card so you have to physically remove it  from your old phone to the new one, where after a moment it works like a treat.
The phone holds it charge well which will be useful for things like alg gatherings as not having to pack a charger does save space.
Needless to say it has had a Hello Kitty sticker applied to the back and a protective HK phone sock is coming to keep it in!

Rest day edition

Hi there.

I'm a bit late getting this blog entry started not least with being poorly for quite a bit of the week and then busy with other things like planning a trip out which isn't a strong point but I do really need to work on it if I'm to be more independent.
It's a time a time of year associated with last minute return to school purchases such as pens and geometry sets through to school uniform which visiting BHS stores in the UK reminds me of as that was the first store where the whole pull toward buying actual items of uniform for me came from and it has to be said the quality of their stuff was very good.

I can remember buying lots of stuff around  this time not least long  socks and it would survive pretty much the heavy washing routines at home well

Reading was always a thing with me as much as I struggle with it and this classic novel is a favourite of mine.

I am doing some tidying up tm stuff at various sites altering layouts, changing the odd avatar to spruce it up and help make using it for me a fun thing as with lots of sites you really have pick just a few you can be active on and given the changes that have occurred over the last year that's one thing I'd like to resume in a measured way.

I like to stay in touch with people who care about me more rather than feeling everything's been dropped for those that are really keeping me just for themselves cos surprisingly enough I'm a social creature.
