Away and past memories

Well I'm just sat here with an achy back having been on my feet for most of the day and having spent ten hours on the move with the twisted section also quite warm.

Really it should of been corrected by a surgical custom made jacket when I was in my teens but for some reason that never happened and my folks never really pursued that matter which is why most people I know in similar circumstances don't have the same level of discomfort as I do.

The trip out generally went well with no traffic issues unlike last trip out but while the last time we've been leaving around four pm allowing for just under a two hour journey an initial offer of leaving at half four got extended to 5pm which meant we arrived back at 7 and had to get something to eat when you just feel shattered.

And his Grumpness had walked his shortish legs off while I stocked up on Coconut Ice and battled with the steep stairs to on set of conveniences, something patrons did notice strangely enough.

On Tuesday September 3rd, we lost Brian Truman, aged 92, who wrote Dangermouse, Count Duckula its spin off series, Jamie and the Magic Torch, Cockleshell Bay plus Chorlton and the Wheelies all of which were amongst our favourite cartoons growing up.

He also presented Children's Hour, Clitheroe Kid, Scene at 6.30, Granada Reports, Brass Tacks and the much missed Screen Test that mixed quizes on current children's films with features on making your own short films.

He will be sadly missed by many of us.

BP round up

This week things may be a little slower  and less deep than usual in that I'm preparing to be away  at LG camp which should be fun checking everything all off on lists so I have what I need without taking the kitchen sink with me while melting as this is being typed in the sun, keeping well hydrated.

It also means a bit more time spent on one site where much of the discussion and planning for this in the bigger sense takes place which does take me a bit away from other things of necessity.

It is also worth my mentioning that it does effect stuff in the period I'm away not just Tumblr and the Music Site but blogging so I'll see if something can't be set up to run although I won't be around to post links and all that..

Most people know what my favourite all time tv show is - and it's run for over sixty years - and until 2011 there were year books (later annuals) of which this one shows then current presenters Matt Baker, Konnie Haq, Liz Barker and I think Simon Thomas.

Lindsey with Henry the dog.

On last Thursday one of the current presenters Lindsey Russell left after a eight year run starting in September 2013 with Barney Harwood after a audition followed by show audience vote.

May 2018 saw her undertake a challenge flying with the Red Arrows, taking control for herself and this is the one thing she says was her favourite, learning a lot about herself from it plus Piloting a hot-air balloon across the Arctic, Climbing mountains with the Swiss Army and Interviewing David Attenborough.

There wasn't just the usual wall of post from the shows young audience that included letters drawings, paintings and crafts connected to her but another great big wall too.

She had some challenges to do such as fastest getting changed into Cricket Whites in which she set a new record of just over 38 seconds adjudicated by Guinness the records people and identifying by touch three objects in boxes.

She was presented with a Blue Peter Gold Badge by Richie Driss who was the presenter who joined just after her and took under her wing for a period.

Tributes were paid by Radzi, Katy Hill and Konnie Huq amongst others including some children views from the Blue Peter Fan Club which is online and after a competition she went up as the credits rolled in a hot air balloon over the studio at Salford's Media City to a crowd of school children cheering and waving.

It was sad, these things just are but she was brilliant.

Weekend musings

As arrangements despite the emergency to mark Easter continue and attempts to even stop the sale of Easter Eggs I have been continuing to go out enjoying as best you can the Spring.
Indeed on Friday I had to persuade a wasp to buzz off as it was attracted to my Tuque's colours illuminated by the bright sunlight as it came flying of a hedge and toward me as I was walking around.
It might of been these fine things it was really after that I thought looked really rather lovely in front of a wall on communal grass by the sidewalk.
I'm continuing with viewing Malory Towers which should start showing today, April 6th direct on the CBBC channel which all being well I should be able to get in HD as we'll of gotten a new Panasonic colour HD tv to replace the old 32" Sony.

That's wired to my Blu-Ray Player and the YouView BT Sports box so apart from seeing sporting events better when this emergency is over with, I can watch this baa'ingly funny blu ray with better quality

Top shelf edition! (Very SFW!)

Been a bit busy this week tidying a few things up, sorting  somethings I don't really use but are in great shape for charity and dusting -atchoo! - the top shelf in my room.
Well when doing that I found something I hadn't mentioned before on here that is I just loved Sesame Street even when you get it with NTSC colour on our tv and 26th letter of the American Language (some of us spell from Eh to Zed!) for the characters and especially the message it put over in what could be  very selfish and commercial set of values found elsewhere.
Big Bird was one of my favourites from the show always taking an interest and a care in the people and situations which kinda rubbed off with me.
A few years ago my folks bought me this Big Bird plushie as they gradually are becoming more accepting of this middle/little side that's central to my life and I thought it deserved an airing.

Top Cat

One of my childhood favourite tv shows was Top Cat being heavily influenced by Sgt Bilko with a lot of stuff under the cute sharply observed characters of Benny the Ball, TC himself the gang leader, Choo Choo, Brains and co always scheming in trouble with Officer Dibble.
The action was always centred around the red Police phone box that Top Cat would use lacking any other means, often being caught in the act by Dibble.
TC and the gang could easily run rings around him!!!

Clarissa explains it all

I've never been much for watching television generally there was never that much on which held my attention but recently I bought a used Satellite tv receiver and dish to use with the tv for some of things I do like such as the Children's Channel, The Family Channel and Nickelodeon, home of some great children's early teen shows

One show I like a lot is Clarissa Explains It All starring Melissa Joan Hart who plays a teen going you the lowdown on what is exactly is what from her bedroom headquarters with her family including brother, Ferguson and friends. It covers fun things to do, social situations and consequences which I struggle with.
One thing that cannot be dodged with me is I never really learned much socially about navigating choices having not really had a teen upbringing and so this show is helpful to me as as it is for actual teens getting to grips with being given more independence.

This early nineties show was something I found helpful being a hybrid of a Tween emotionally and an adult in terms of a few interests and the law.
