Christmas 1986 [Pre-blog]

This Christmas saw a few things I liked in my Christmas stocking

Queen: A Night At The Opera

Queen: A Day At The Races
Since A Kind Of Magic came out earlier in the year I've been more interested in this group and enjoyed the televised Hungarian Concert on ITV with stereo sound via the IRL radio network.
These were a couple of recent compact disc re-issues of albums I recall from my childhood but whose old eight track tapes were long gone from my music collection.

And the annual that's not really one by my favourite magazine as I still love reading them.

Silk and Steel [Pre-blog]

Finally it has come out, the new Five Star album with the singles Rain Or Shine and Can't Wait Another Minute so I bought it from the local store on vinyl although I have a cd player cos I think it's they're just too expense and anyway on my stereo the record sounds almost as good.
Increasingly now I'm putting lps on to cassettes for playing on my cassette player aka Walkman for sitting outside in in the summer which is as well as we're having central heating installed and it's kinda noisy. I did get the new Queen album A Kind Of Magic on compact disc with it's singles One Vision and a Kind Of Magic as well as the cd issue of Queen's Greatest Hits.

Animal day out [Pre-blog]

Today we're roaring off  Safari Park with my brother and his friends from the youth club he goes travelling through the big town of Wolverhampton.

It's a very bright, sunny day in June so we're going to have to be careful about not burning ourselves but I'm excited as I haven't been to a zoo for a long time and I loved it when I was younger.
We get to see many of the big mammals which are my favourites like the Giraffes and Tigers first thing as they're all out in the open being a Safari park.

Oh look they has Elephants!
After lunch we make our way to the Sea Lions as they're fun to watch and also it in the shade to avoid sunburn licking our Icecreams.
I had a super time just doing more childlike things.

If she know what she wants [Pre-blog]

Today I'm listening to this 45, and I hope to get the album it's from if I can make up my own mind as to what format I want it in having gotten a cd player recently and if the cd is is available as stuff just comes and goes in our local store.
What I like about it is the harmonies that reminds me of how we used to sing at school and also  what the lyric is about.
Somedays I go through phases of not really knowing what I want and why I want it which wasn't so bad in the past as I'd talk it through with my school friends who'd help me clarify my thoughts but of course they're no longer there.
One thing I sure do know is I really want to be the girl I was destined to be.

Playing back the past [Pre-blog]

I'm listening this lunchtime time to  a Radio Show called The Old Record Club presented on England's Radio One by the presenter Jimmy Saville. He presents it in a "Triple Top Ten" format looking at three years charts per week, this week 1982, 1976 and 1971 where he plays and talks about the records.
I'm finding it is bring back my memories  of those years that had been buried, years I spent in school with friends and feel my childhood matters to me for the first time.
Post script for 2012.
The presenter was unmasked for offences against children, full details being available online in all the usual sites something feel I strongly about, however this show he presented did help me to piece together my past inspiring me to deal with unresolved issues in a way few other things did so for me this memory remains a good one.
